Roberta Ann Christian, 82, formerly of Perryton, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 11, 1941, in Hays, Kansas to Robert and Mildred Stevens.  Roberta married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Christian on December 27, 1961, in Ellinwood, Kansas. She and Melvin had three sons, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

Roberta worked in Special Education as a Paraprofessional for 21 years for Perryton School District at Central/Willams School, where she touched many students’ lives before retiring in 2001.

Roberta had a generous loving heart and enjoyed being around people. Roberta loved her family wholeheartedly. She was her children’s and grandkids’ biggest cheerleader. She travelled many miles to support her loved ones by attending their activities while they were growing up. She dearly loved her sisters and extended family members and was dedicated to staying connected with everyone, making sure they knew they were loved. She also spent time hand sewing Christmas stockings for each of her children and grandchildren. Roberta was known for spending many hours in the kitchen during the holiday season baking various candies to share with her family and friends.

She also loved the Lord, and you could find her reading and studying the Bible. Roberta was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for many years, where she played the piano for most services, and was active with many aspects while there. She attended First United Methodist Church for the last several years where she participated in the church choir and handbells.

Roberta joined the Wolf Creek Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in 2010 where she was a very active member and served as Historian. She loved helping put out wreaths on Veterans graves for Wreaths Across America and helping with Constitution Day presentations to the school children.

She also spent countless hours volunteering throughout her community whether it was helping fill sacks for Snack Pac for Kids or delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need.

Roberta was a lifetime member of Perryton Area Retired School Personnel and served as Historian. She was also a member of Jenny June Club, where she served as third Vice President and Historian.

Roberta is survived by three sons Steve (Kathleen) Christian of La Crosse, WI; Scott (Teresa) Christian of Wichita, KS; and Sean Christian of Decatur, IL; 12 grandchildren, Kaleb Christian, Tyler Christian, Blake Christian (Fiancée Sydney), Courtney (Preston) Frie, Jared Christian, Austin (Anna) Christian, Conner Christian (Kevin), Joshua Christian, Mackensi Christian, Arianna Christian, Zoe Christian, and Bailey Christian; and three great grandsons, Lucas Frie, Mason Christian, and Brexten Christian.  She is also survived by two sisters, Trudy (Kenneth) Damon of Great Bend, KS; and Debbie (Barrett) Halderman of Salina, KS; brother-in-law Jon (Cheryl) Christian of Hillsboro, KS, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
