Sharon Faye Balletta

April 26, 2021 | 3 comments

Sharon Faye Balletta, 75, of La Crosse passed away Saturday, April 24th after a short battle with cancer with her family at her side.

She was born on September 10th, 1945 in Sparta, Wisconsin to Roy and Mildred (Cain) Stanhope.

Sharon graduated from Bangor Union High School in 1963. She worked at Gateway Foods for 29 years until its closing. Following this, she found her true calling as a home health aide for Home Instead Senior Care. She worked helping families for over 10 years. She never lost her passion for enabling others to remain in their homes. Sharon retired due to health concerns in July of 2020. Still, even after retirement, she maintained relationships with many of her Home Instead families.

As much as she loved providing comfort and care to others, it didn’t compare to the love and affection she showered on her family. She was always their largest supporter and they were her greatest source of pride.

Sharon is survived by a son, Timothy Balletta (Holly Jensen); a daughter, Lori (Shaun) Horton; three grandchildren, Corey Horton (Emily Duncan), Kallie Horton, and Austin Balletta.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mildred; sisters, Jean Rommel, Pat Church, and Sandra Schaller; brother, Harley Stanhope; and brother-in-law, Duane Rommel.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at Coulee Region Cremation Group at 133 Mason Street, Onalaska, Wisconsin.

Condolences

I am so sorry about the loss of Sharon. I first met Sharon through her sister Sandy, my good friend. Sharon was a very nice person. My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. Lynette (Schaller) Neumann.

Sharon had the biggest heart ❤ of anyone I had ever met! I worked with her at Home Instead. She was always willing to pick up extra shifts whenever asked because she loved to help the people that needed it! She talked about her family often and felt very close to them. She was wise, compassionate and a very hard worker! She touched many lives and will be dearly missed! Rest in Peace, Sharon ??

So sorry to hear about Sharon’s passing! She was one of my ‘mom’s away from mom’ growing up! I had many a sleep over with Lori and we had lots of summer fun days together. I always love chatting with Sharon at family reunions. She was a loving person with a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh! Much love and healing thoughts!
