Sharon Kay (Slaback) Hansen

August 17, 2020 | 5 comments

Sharon Kay Hansen, 75, of Holmen, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 12th, 2020 after a 3-year battle with lung cancer.  Sharon was born in La Crosse on March 23, 1945 to Cecil and Gladys Slaback.  She married Michael Hansen on May 28, 1966 in Onalaska.  They had two sons, Michael Ray in 1967 and William “Bomber” John in 1969.  Throughout her life, Sharon worked as a custodian at various places including UWL, St. Mary’s University and Winona State University from which she retired in March of 2010.

Sharon had the biggest heart…she would do anything for anyone.  Her greatest pride and joy was her family…she loved them all so much.  Sharon is survived by her sons, Michael “Mikey” (Marina) of Anchorage, AK, William (Bill) “Bomber” (Jaime) of Mindoro, her Grandson Jonathan (Samantha Hohlfeld) of Holmen, Granddaughter Mikayla of Anchorage, AK and her first unborn Great Granddaughter.  She is further survived by her Sister Anna (Alan) Miller, Sister Cindy (Yegi) Peterson, Brother Jim (Judy) Slaback and her Sister-in-law Lois Slaback (companion Bob).  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, Brother Ray Slaback, Sister Joanne Christenson, Sister Deanna Viner and her special friend Cashmere the brown dog.

Sharon was a simple woman and lived a simple life.  That being said, her wishes were to be cremated and have no services.  Sharon was deemed the “QVC Queen” by her family…she loved to order treasures for everyone.  We will all miss her “tell-it-like-it-is” attitude.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  Coulee Cremation Group is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Gundersen Lutheran Oncology, Palliative Care and Hospice departments staff for the wonderful care they gave Sharon during her battle with cancer.  Also, a huge thank you to Anna Miller and Sue McCann for staying with Sharon and making sure she was comfortable.

Condolences
