Stephen M. Oestriech, 74, of La Crosse passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Lakeview healthcare Center in West Salem. He was born on June 24, 1943 to George and Edith (Holmes) Oestriech.

Steve liked to hunt, fish and play cards. He served as a medical core man in the Navy aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, where he took care of many people and continued that care and love for others throughout his life.

Steve is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawrence Oestriech; and his sister, Geraldine Melde.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Lakeview Healthcare Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to Casa Hogar.

A mass of Christian burial will be held in his honor on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Workman in Marian Chapel,530 Main St., La Crosse, at 10:30 AM with a visitation being held an hour prior at 9:30 AM. Monsignor Charles Stoetzel will be officiating.
