Steven Edward Schroeder
Steven Edward Schroeder was born on January 12, 1960, in La Crosse, WI, to Donald and Patricia Schroeder. Surrounded by his loving family, Steve passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, following a brief illness.
Steve proudly served more than 20 years in the United States Marine Corps in Japan, Hawaii, and California before returning home to Wisconsin. He was most recently employed by City Brewing Company. A devoted sports fan, Steve especially loved the Green Bay Packers and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. Many of those games were enjoyed with his faithful companion, Chase, by his side.
Steve was married to Yoriko Haneda, and together they had two children, Connie and Ryan. They later divorced. In 2009, Steve married Toni Garczynski, who remained faithfully by his side and shared many cherished years with him.
Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela; his father, Donald; and his mother, Patricia.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Toni Schroeder of Westby, WI; daughter, Connie Tariq of Winona, MN; son, Ryan Schroeder of Iron River, MI; stepdaughter, Jessica (Justin) Hemker of La Crosse, WI; and siblings, Gary Schroeder of Tomah, WI, Dawn (Joseph) Scallon of West Salem, WI, Laurie (Thomas) Anderson of Fall Creek, WI, and Chad (Susie) Schroeder of Winona, MN.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Robin’s Nest in French Island, WI on Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 11 am to 4 pm. In true Steve fashion, his family and friends are invited to wear their favorite Green Bay Packers attire and gather together to watch the game while celebrating his life, his memories, and the person he was to all of us.
Steve will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

I’m so sorry to hear about this. I knew and worked with Steve for the last 20 years he was one of the best men I’ve ever met and definitely will be deeply miss by all that knew him.
My condolences to his family, I knew Steve in high-school and we would visit each other’s homes periodically. lost contact with him but he was very kind hearted. Sorry for your loss.
We at Torrance Casting are so sorry to learn of Steve’s passing. For 18 years we were blessed to have him with us. No one worked harder than Steve or did so with such a positive attitude. May God provide you with His comfort and peace in these days ahead.
