Steven Jon Granum

Steven Jon Granum, 61, of Galesville passed away unexpectedly from complications of his 33-year battle with diabetes on September 3rd, 2020 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.

He was born in Chippewa Falls, WI to Robert and Birdelle Granum.

After graduating High School from Stevens Point High School (SPASH) he spent 4 years in the US Navy. In December of 1984 he married Elizabeth Granum. Together they raised two sons. They later divorced but remained good friends.

Steve was an extremely hardworking man. He always worked two jobs.  After leaving the Navy, he worked for The State of Wisconsin as a boiler operator while running his small lawn service business “Lake Area Lawn Care”. He was employed by Ashley furniture for 20 years and most currently he was on the Lawn Service team at River City Lawnscape.

Steve was a loving and present father to his sons Dustin and Derek.  As children he would take them everywhere he went. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing he loved fast boats and his Harley.  He needed the wind in his hair.  Steve was very outgoing.  He loved to visit, and he loved to make people laugh.  You could always count on him to put a smile on your face.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert and brothers Gerald and Joel, grandparents Norman and Hazel Granum and Arthur and Vera Lysdahl.

Steve is survived by two sons and two grandchildren:  Dustin and son, Austin; Derek (Christine) Granum and daughter Blayre. He leaves behind his Mother Birdie Granum, and his Siblings Tom (Sally) Granum and their children Melissa (Mark) Kowald, Jason Neary, Garret, Ashley and Jordan (Jennifer) Granum.  Kay (Don) Felmer and their children Marissa and Nathan.  Sandy Granum Lee and her children Jason and Josh, and David (Penny) Granum.

The family will hold a visitation on October 10th at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St, Onalaska, from 11:00am-1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) diabetes.org

    Sorry for your loss he was a super person and was a honest hard working guy.and yes he did love his 2 sons. Which also grew up 2 be a couple of very good men. May he rip. Passed way to soon. God will take care of him

    Gary and I were so glad we had the chance to meet your dad and consider him a friend. He was such a nice guy with a great sense of humor, and was always willing to give a helping hand. He talked about him boys often and was so proud of you both. Dont forget to take care of yourselves at this time. Thinking of you.

      I knew Steve from high school; SPASH 1978. He always liked to have fun and was such a joy to be around; always made you laugh. At our last reunion in 2018, While we were cleaning up at the end of the night, he was hanging out with some of us …Sharing stories and his philosophy on life. He had us in tears we were laughing so hard. Such a loss. Condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.
