Tim L. McCarthy
Tim L. McCarthy, 64, of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Gundersen Health System with family by his side.
He was born on August 29, 1956.
Tim had a passion for racing, camping, fishing, football and family. He worked at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway as a tech for 20 years. He also worked as a baker at Festival Foods and spent his days working at Advance Auto in Sparta.
He is survived by his fiancé, Jan Dettman; children, Eric McCarthy, Jeni (Joel) Zayas, Scott (Tristina) Mahlum, Melissa Rusch (Cam Dezelske), Shawn (Karon) McCarthy, Caylin (Dan) Johnston, Miranda McCarthy (Ben Murtz), Brandon McCarthy; 22 grandkids and 1 great-grandkid; brother, George (Jeri) McCarthy; sisters, Kim (Butch) Campbell, Betty Winson, Cheryl Stanitz; several nieces and nephews, as well as his pets, Sprinkles, Willa, and Dixy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and George McCarthy; brothers, Billy Nelson, Snooky Nelson; and his pet, Cedar.
The family would like to thank Tim’s hospice team and his fiancé Jan for being there daily.

A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, April 14th 2021 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St, Onalaska, WI. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3-6 pm.
