Obituary

Timothy Ray Banegas

August 28, 2020 | 17 comments

Timothy Ray Banegas, 55, of La Crosse, was born November 30, 1964, in Charleston, SC to Jerry and Carolyn (Wise) Banegas. He was baptized at Deer Park Baptist Church in Charleston. Tim passed away Thursday evening, August 27, 2020 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, WI.

He moved to La Crosse in 1978 with his father. He attended Longfellow Middle School and graduated from Central High School in 1983.

On June 3, 2000, Tim married Patricia Marie Roark, nee Pieterick at Jerry and Sonja’s place in Dutch Creek/Middle Ridge.

He worked at Wettsteins and Milwaukee Stove/Design Air.

Tim was a gentle man, tenderhearted and always willing to help.

Tim’s health has been declining the past few years. He was in and out of the hospital and in February became a resident at Hillview Health Care with Hospice. Then the COVID-19 took away our time to be with him. Tim was a trooper through all of this. His attitude was “it is what it is”. But, we were given a Gift. In July, Hillview said Tim was well enough to come home! And he did! He got to be with Pat and tinker in his garage and enjoy the company of friends, family, and his special granddaughter, Kennedy. He got his life back for several weeks. We are so grateful for this precious time together.

Tim is survived by his loving wife, Pat, her son, Matthew Roark (Chandra), Granddaughter, Kennedy Roark, Mother, Carolyn Wise Ward of Suffolk, Va, Sister, Connie (Jeff) Burns, Charleston, SC, Step-mom “Ma”, Sonja Banegas, La Crosse, WI, Step-sisters Laurie (Robert) Nicholson, their children Karrie & Max, and Tia (Jeff) Hrudka, along with many dear relatives and friends.

Tim is preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Banegas.

A family gathering will be held at a later date.

Have faith in what will be”.

    Patricia,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Tim will be very remembered. I’ll never forget all the good times we all had at shimmy, playing pool on our Thursday night league. All the football games that we watched. (Even though he was a viking fan). And the party’s we had at his dad’s place up on the hill. All the good times we all had together, will never be forgot. He was a great friend!.

I have such fond memories of Tim when he lived next door growing up. Though second cousins, we were of the same age and played a lot together, spending most of our time outdoors as he patiently tried to teach me baseball skills, though without much success. My heart goes out to the family, with prayers for peace, taking comfort knowing he is with our Lord and is now in perfect health.

I was very saddened to hear of Tim’s [Tiny] passing. We worked at Wettsteins together and hung out quite a bit. Every time we saw each other after that we had plenty of laughs and a great time catching up. My thoughts and prayers to Pat and the entire family. Until we catch up again. God Speed my Friend!
