Ula Mae (Ranum) Thompson, 82 yrs. old, of Onalaska, WI, passed away on Sun Oct 7, 2018, from emphysema and dementia. Ula was born on Sept 23, 1936 at Mineral Point, WI to Vivian & Vera (Willis) Ranum, being the 2ndof 13 children.

Being raised on farms gave Ula a strong work ethic in which she used outside of the home starting at the young age of 12 with babysitting, various jobs until she got head of housekeeping at the Onalaska Care Center and then the UWL in which, after many yrs., retired from.

Having contracted spinal meningitis in her early teens, and being in a coma for 28 days, Ula had to learn how to walk and talk again which is thought to have contributed to her dementia along with the silent strokes she had in her middle ages.

Ula met the love of her life, Leon, in the Darlington WI schools. They married after his stint in the army, on March 29th, 1957.

Ula was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her parents-in-law, two siblings, and various brother & sisters-in-law.

Ula is survived by daughters, Betty (Randy) Campbell and Janet (Steve) Hurguy; grandchildren, Joshua (Brenda), Jeremy (Beth), Zachary (Shannon), Hannah, Naomi, Lydia, Chloe, Joanna, Rainiesha Campbell, Rachel (Phil) Gustufson, Shawna Doolittle, Ryan (Rachel) Moore, Jordan, Tyler (Jessie) Hurguy; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 siblings.

We want to thank St. Croix Hospice and Coulee Region Cremation Group for their help and service. A special thank you to Pigeon Falls Healthcare Center, for the wonderful care given to our mom in the last six months of her life.
