Obituary

William “Bill” Larson

May 6, 2024 | 2 comments

William (Bill) Larson age 65 of Bangor, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2024. Bill was born on May 1, 1958 to Robert and Mary in La Crosse, WI.

Bill is survived by his love of 45 years Jackie Osley, daughter Nicole Larson (Kyle Westbrook) of La Crosse, WI,  sisters Carol (Ken) Schaller of Eau Claire, WI and Ellyn Katrichis (George Dangles) of Fort Myers, FL and brother Robert Larson Jr (Gail) of Elberton, GA. Along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from Central High School in 1976. In 1993, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for two years before starting his own business moving manufactured homes and oversized loads. He was also the Zoning Administrator for the Town of Burns for over ten years.

Bill had many interests and was always busy working on one of them. He was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed working on engines big or small. At the age of 16, he rebuilt the transmission on his sister’s car.  As a lifelong learner, he had a passion for finding solutions whether it was fixing vehicles, calculating corners for moving loads, or analyzing music lyrics, he always wanted to know more.  His continued quest for knowledge made him an avid reader of nonfiction books (including repair manuals).  As a child Bill would read the encyclopedia to help himself fall asleep. An engineer at heart, often papers and notebooks would contain drawings of modifications to be made or equipment he wanted to build to assist him in fixing a problem.

But most of all he was a loving partner, father, brother, and friend. He was always there when you needed him. Now he will always be in our hearts.

Bill was preceded  in death by his father Robert Larson, his mother Mary Ekern, sister Sharon Meier, and twin daughters Brittany and Courtney Larson.

A visitation will be held at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska on May 13, 2024 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with a short service to follow at 1:00 pm.
