William J. Doskocil

William J. Doskocil age 80, of La Crosse WI formerly of Seneca, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 26, 1943 to William and Louise (Kinder) Doskocil. He married the love of his life, Cecilia Gillitzer, on April 19, 1969 at St. Wenceslaus Church, in Eastman, WI.

Bill’s interests included hunting, cheering for Wisconsin sports teams, fishing, spending time with family, and time on the farm. His most valued purpose in life was to cherish and spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending Packer games, Brewer games, and camping with them were favorite activities, as well as, supporting their interests and cheering them on in their competitive events gave him great pleasure.

Bill spent many years farming on family farms near Seneca followed by their own farm on Taylor Ridge Road. Following farming, the family moved to Middleton where Bill worked for 20+ years at Springs Window Fashions. Bill spent many years playing fastpitch softball in Eastman and 50 years of hunting deer with family and friends. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan that enjoyed watching or going to games. Upon retirement, Bill and Ce moved to La Crosse to be closer to children and grandchildren. He also returned part-time to his favorite job of farm hand on his brother Ed’s farm to work alongside him and his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ce, children Lisa (Kevin) Colburn, Jeffery (Stephanie Schoeneberg) Doskocil, Rhonda (Heath) Obert, grandchildren Jada Colburn, Hunter Obert, Mya Colburn, Justin Obert, Drew Obert and Cael Schoeneberg, sisters Patsy (Herb) Larkin, Judy (Gary) Yelk, Maggie (Ken) McCallum, Mary (Fred) Bock, Teresa (Bun) Burke, and Kathy (Marty) McGreevy, brothers, John (Mary) Doskocil, Paul Doskocil, and Ed (Amy) Doskocil, as well as numerous in-laws, special nieces, nephews, godchildren, great nieces and nephews, and friends that are family.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Peter, Jim and Thomas, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Services will be on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11 am. Visitation will be 9:30 am up to time of service at Mary Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse, WI officiated by Rev. Konopa. A Christian burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Seneca, WI.

Thank you to Gundersen Critical Care Team, Gundersen Emergency Department, La Crosse Emergency Services, and Family Medicine La Crosse providers and staff for their loving care.  Bill will be missed grealty by all who knew him.

    I was sorry to hear of Billy’s passing. Although it’s been many years since I’ve seen him I remember how funny he was and how he guided his younger sisters thru their young years. Spent many summers with my cousins on the farm.
