William Ted Steege
William Ted Steege was born on August 30, 1955, in La Crosse, WI, to John and Bonnie Steege. He peacefully passed away on August 6 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was a part of the Air Force and a man of many trades throughout his life. Most notably, he was a dairy farmer for many years. The farm was a place where he was able to utilize all the skills he had acquired over the years, passing those skills along and ensuring he shared his belief that “any job worth doing is a job worth doing right.” After transitioning from farm life, he worked at LB White until eventually retiring, allowing him more time for the many things he enjoyed in life.
William was an avid sportsman, enjoying any time he could find outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, he was a devoted Packers and Brewers fan and enjoyed watching games whenever possible. He was also a card game enthusiast who probably forgot more games than most people ever learned.
He was married to Peggy Steege for 45 years, and together they had three children: Jessica, Jennifer, and Jeremiah. They later divorced.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Penny; brother, Russell; mother, Bonnie; and father, John.
He is survived by his children, Jessica (Erik Cadogan) Steege, Jennifer (Matt) Knebes, and Jeremiah (Kelsey) Steege; grandchildren Andrew (Reghan) Sage, Addyson Knebes, Mason Knebes, and Kensington Knebes; and siblings Pat (Kevin) Manke, Pam Olson, and Tom Steege.
Per his wishes, there will not be a large “fuss” made over his passing. If you wish to do anything in his honor, throw on a Packers or Brewers game, play some cards, or spend some time outdoors.
William will be deeply missed and remembered forever by those who knew and loved him.

I so very sorry to here of Bill’s passing. sending my love to all who are grieving at this time. i always enjoyed a good game of poker with Bill and the rest of the family at gatherings for holidays.
Bill is also survived by 2 additional daughters from his first marriage Elizabeth Hohman and Billie Steege , 11 additional grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Though life was complicated we still loved him from afar and can not be erased from his legacy.
Rest easy now. Your suffering has ended and I believe you are with our heavenly family. I’m so fortunate to have been with you your last hours. I just hope you knew I was there for you. Love you brother. I will miss you immensely. Love Always- Sis Pam❤️

It was a long journey brother. I wish there was more time. We had a lot of good times in the woods and on the lake, hunting and fishing. This chapter of your soul’s existence may be over, but you have started the next chapter. I’m sure we will meet again. My condolences to his children, all of them, including Elizabeth and Billy Jo which Bill had with his first wife Sheila Stetzer of Mindoro, WI.
As his oldest sibling I would like to add that Bill is also survived by his 2 daughters from his first marriage, Elizabeth Hohman and Billie Nino as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren from that union.Bill was also predeceased by his older brother Alan Steege, maternal grandparents Angus and Cora (Odell) McConnell and paternal grandparents Charles and Olive Steege and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
